Ahli were held to a goalless draw by Arab Contractors in the Egyptian League on Monday to lose their first two points of the season. The tie left Ahli first with four points from two games before matchday two resumes on Thursday. Ahli striker Flavio Amado almost ended his long scoring-drought ten minutes after re-start but his goal was disallowed. Ahli dominated the first-half but Arab Contractors had the first opportunity in the 19th minute when Amir Salah ghosted behind his marker Mohamed Sedik but shot over the bar. In the 33rd minute, Mohamed Shawki raced down the left and crossed for the darting Islam Al-Shater who sent a weak shot wide. Shawki failed to break the deadlock just before the interval when he connected with Emad Meteb's cross but his header was too poor to find the net. Flavio, who was fielded in the second-half, hammered the ball into the roof of the net in the 55th minute after receiving a low cross from Meteb. However, the assistant referee flagged Meteb for crossing the endline before setting-up Flavio. Substitute forward Rami Rabee came close from scoring his first goal with Ahli deep into the injury time when he steered a close-range header but it was tipped away by keeper Daouda Diakite. Minusu Buba almost snatched a last-gasp winner when he darted past Ahli defenders and pinned a low shot at the body of Ahli's advancing keeper Essam Al-Hadari.
