Andy Roddick, suffering a nagging abdominal injury, said on Tuesday that he is optimistic over his chances to participate in the US Open that starts late in August. Roddick pulled out of the Legg Mason Classic on Monday after his win over US's Scott Oudesma to avoid further complications that could force him out of the Flushing Meadows. "I'd rather get healed and be prepared," tournament's second seed and defending champion Roddick said in a statement carried by his official website. "Fortunately, there's still some time for me before the U.S. Open," he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Network. "It's not like the U.S. Open is next week. I'm still scheduled to play a couple of tournaments before the Open so hopefully I can get out there and be healthy." Roddick, who is set to play in Toronto next week then will head to Cincinnati before the U.S. Open, has expressed frustration because the injury arrived just as he felt he was returning to peak form. "It's frustrating for me because I feel I've finally started playing good tennis," Roddick said. "Yesterday (Monday) I thought there was a chance I could play, but if I had gotten out there, I would have had hardly any practice." The withdrawal leaves Roddick suffering another blow as he will lose 200 points that may throw him out of the top ten players ranking.
