Arsenal have offered Ghanaian international defender Shilla Illiasu a pre-season trial, Sky Sports Network reported on Monday. The Asante Kotoko man caught Arsene Wenger's eyes after his impressive performance in Ghana's World Cup campaign, when he was featured in the team's four games. The London club agreed a deal with Kotoko to trial Illiasu and the Ghanaian club confirmed that the player is on his way to London to join the Arsenal pre-season trainings. Arsenal have previously lured African defenders Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue from Ivory Coast at young ages before turning them to World Class players. The Gunners are keen to produce a new prodigy out of Illiasu. It is reported that if Illiasu impresses in his trial, Kotoko would be willing to sell him to Arsenal for a fee around $1 million.
