Zamalek are targeting Ghanaian forward Shaibu Yakubu after missing out on signing Eric Bekoe, a club source said on Friday. The Cairo giants were close to landing Asante Kotoko's Bekoe but Petrojet surprisingly intervened to snatch the striker from under their noses. Now Zamalek have turned their attention towards Yakubu, who plays for Turkish first-division side Hacettepe Spor Kulubu. "We've opened talks with the player over a possible move in January," a Zamalek source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com. Yakubu began his career at local club Ashanti Gold before moving to Hacettepe in the summer. The 22-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder and as a striker, is a regular member of Ghana's U-21 team. Zamalek signed Ghanaian international Junior Agogo in the close season but he is yet to impress. The former Nottingham Forest man is serving a three-match suspension for making an inappropriate gesture during Zamalek's Egyptian League draw with Petrojet.
