Zamalek officials have insisted they properly compensated Ghanaian midfielder Awuley Quaye "Junior" after the player threatened to terminate his contract, accusing the club of not paying the installments of his deal. "Junior can't terminate it; we are paying him according to his contract that is registered in the Egyptian Football Association (EFA)," Zamalek spokesman Alaa Meklid told FilGoal.com on Sunday. The dispute occurred because the former Sfaxien player signed two separate contracts with the Cairo giants. Junior was due to receive $280,000 before the start of the new season, according to the first contract he signed with former Zamalek coach Farouk Gaafar. He then signed another one with the club after he was officially unveiled, which states that he will earn $70,000 before the start of the season with the rest of his salary due to be paid on installments and in accordance to the number of appearances he makes throughout the season. Meanwhile, Player Affair Committee president Ahmed Mogahed said neither Zamalek nor Junior has submitted an official complaint. "If we received any complaint we will study the contract that is registered in the EFA," he said.
