Fabregas committed to Arsenal
Published in FilGoal on 09 - 07 - 2006

Spanish midfielder Francesco 'Cesc' Fabregas confirmed that he will be staying with Arsenal next season denying reports that he's close on signing for Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old has been a long-term target for Real and after Roman Calderon became the new club president, he listed Fabregas alongside Dutch winger Arjen Robben and Brazilian playmaker Kaka as his priority signings.
"I am not thinking of anything other than playing for Arsenal next season," Fabregas told El Mundo Deportivo on Sunday.
"I'm an Arsenal player 100 percent and no one told me anything to the contrary."
Fabregas, who secured a starting place with Arsenal this season, was a key player in the Londoners campaign towards their first appearance in the Champions League final and the fourth spot in the Premiership.
He shined during the two-legged tie between Arsenal and Real Madrid who wanted to land him to fill in the place of the holding midfielder that has been nagging the Royal Club for three seasons so far.
Calderon and Fabregas' agent Joseba Diaz said that Real have a good chance of landing the former Barcelona prodigy because of the player's desire to play in the Bernabeu.
"Fabregas wants to come here, and I have been talking to him previously," Calderon said last week.
"If we can get an agreement with Arsenal, we've a good opportunity of having the player with us, I think it's a bit more than 50/50, let's say 70 percent."
Despite admitting that he would love to return to Spanish football at some stage of his career, Fabregas said it will not be soon as he is content at Arsenal.
"Sooner or later I'd like to play in the Spanish League as I left when I was 16 and haven't had the chance but at the moment I'm really good in England," Fabregas said.
