Real Madrid are set to open talks with Arsenal for landing Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, the player's agent said on Tuesday. Joseba Diaz said Real new president Roman Calderon will contact Arsenal once he signs former Juventus coach Fabio Capello to take over as the new manager. "Capello wanted new players and Cesc is one of them," Diaz told Spanish paper AS. "We had meetings with (Calderon) ahead of the club elections and there is no problem at all but we have to wait for what Arsenal will say about the deal." Fabregas has been instrumental for Arsenal's domestic and European campaigns last season as the Gunners finished fourth in the Premiership and reached their first UEFA Champions League final ever. The 19-year-old player succeeded to fill in the place of former captain Patrick Vieira at Highbury and it would be hard for manager Arsene Wenger to let him go. Although Diaz said he wishes the deal to be sealed, he stressed that Fabregas appreciates Arsenal and he won't make any move without their approval. "This won't be easy because I believe Arsenal won't trade Fabregas for the gold of the world," he said. "We have been always saying that we are very thankful to Arsenal and we will never stab their backs."
