Striker Haykel Guemamdia was called up to replace injured Mehdi Meriah in Tunisia's World Cup squad. Under FIFA regulations, Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre was allowed to draft the 24-year-old goal getter in place of the injured Meria. Guemamdia provides the French coach with an attacking option for the team's campaign kick-off against Saudi Arabia in Wednesday's Group H match. The Strasbourg player is the second replacement Lemerre has made to his 23-man squad after Bastia's Chaouki Ben Saada replaced Issam Jomaa who returned home with a knee problem. Guemamdia could be deployed as a stand-in for Tunisia's star striker Francileudo Santos has been ruled out of the game against Saudi Arabia.
