Zamalek defender Mohamed Sedik said on Monday he moved to his side's arch-rivals Ahli in search for stability which he lacks with the White club. The 27-year-old Sedik, who plays as stopper or right-back, signed a four-year contract with Ahli for an undisclosed fee. "I was seeking stability when I decided to join Ahli who are the symbol of consistency in Egypt," Sedik told FilGoal.com. Zamalek has been in the middle of a heavy crisis for more than a year with their board of directors dissolved and the club has been placed under interim administration. But an Egyptian court revoked the government decision and ruled in favor of the dissolved board, headed by current controversial president Mortada Mansour. The first team was also affected by the administrative instability as they played under three managers this season only.
Al-Badri German manager Theo Bucker was in charge for only one game before former Zamalek star Farouk Gaafar replaced him. Portuguese coach Manuel Cajuda took over in the second-half of the season but said he won't renew the deal that expires next June. Sedik is the second player to sign for Ahli from Zamalek this season after Tarek Al-Saied penned a three-year contract earlier this week. He said he was on the brink of joining Ahli in 2002 after returning from a one-year spell at the Turkish League. "I was so close on joining Ahli before I made the move to the Turkish League, but Zamalek sealed the deal at the time," Sedik said. "My talks with Ahli started last October through assistant coach and football director Hossam Al-Badri, and a contract has been agreed since then." Sedik won the Egyptian League twice with Zamalek in addition to the African Champions League and the African Super Cup.
