AL-Badri to FilGoal.com: I wish we were drawn in Group B
Published in FilGoal on 13 - 05 - 2006

6th October City-Mohamed Sabe & Ahmed Maher: Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said that he would have preferred to see his team drawn to Group B of the African Champions League quarter-finals.
“Group B is a walk in the park compared to our group,” Al-Badri told FilGoal.com after the draw that took place at the CAF headquarters on Saturday.
Ahli were drawn in a tough group that includes Algerian side Sportive Kabylie, Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and Club Sfaxien of Tunisia.
Al-Badri said that having two North African sides in the group posed an inconvenience for the Egyptian champions.
“Games against North African teams are always like derbies due to the ongoing rivalries,” he said.
However, Al-Badri insisted the African champions will be prepared for all their opponents.
“We started gathering information about all the seven teams, but now we will concentrate on our group opponents.
“Ahli should have no problems reaching the final and retaining the title,” he added.
FilGoal.com asked Al-Badri about a comment made by Enyimba club's representative who said that Ahli were lucky not to be in the same group as the Nigerian side.
The Ahli assistant coach refused to comment on his Nigerian counterpart's statement except with a surprised grin.
Two-time African champions Enyimba were seeded atop Group B that includes ASEC Mimosas, Hearts of Oak and South African side Orlando Pirates.
