Ruben Baraja put the hosts in front in the 23rd minute before Pablo Aimar, who has just recovered from viral meningitis, extended the lead ten minutes later. David Villa completed the rout from the penalty spot four minutes after the re-start, to bring his tally of goals to 24, on level with Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o. Barcelona are leading the league table with 76 points, eight ahead of second-place Valencia, they will retain their title if they beat Celta Vigo on Wednesday. Elsewhere, Brazilian midfielder Julio Baptista scored to help 10-man Real Madrid grab a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Osasuna. The former Sevilla man converted a penalty spot into the net in the 51st minute. Real keeper Iker Casillas was sent off ten minutes from time. Malaga has been relegated from the top flight after a 3-2 home defeat to Racing Santander. In other matches, Mallorca beat Atletico Madrid 1-0, Getafe tied Villarreal 1-1, Sevilla defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 and Real Zaragoza were held to a 1-1 draw with Espanyol.
