Spanish champions Barcelona grabbed an easy 2-0 home win over Deportivo Alaves in the Primera Liga on Sunday. Second half goals by Swedish striker Henrik Larsson and Argentinean teenager Lionel Messi ensured the three points for the Catalan giants. Barcelona are on the top of La Liga table with 49 points, 10 points ahead of second-placed Valencia. Midfielder Ludovic Giuly almost opened the score one minute before the break when Ronaldinho fed him inside the box but his close range shot went just wide. Larsson fired Barcelona into the lead two minutes after the re-start when Giuly's low cross went between Alaves keeper Franco Costanzo's hand only for Larsson to tap-in easily into the empty net. Ronaldinho could have doubled the lead in the 68th minute but he failed to deliver the awarded penalty kick after Andres Iniesta was brought down in the 18-yards box. Messi sealed the victory for Barca in the 82nd minute after he capitalized on Costanzo's poor clearance of Ronaldinho's shot. Elsewhere, Deportivo La Coruna tied Mallorca 2-2, Getafe humiliated Espanyol 5-0, Sevilla beat Racing Santander 3-2, Valencia defeated Real Betis 2-0, Villarreal edged Osasuna 2-1 and Celta Vigo cruised past Malaga 2-0.
