Italian coach Giovanni Trapattoni has been fired after eight months in charge of Stuttgart and replaced by Armin Veh, the Bundesliga side said on Friday. Stuttgart suffered a dismal season under Trapattoni, managing only five wins in 20 matches this season. "Giovanni Trapattoni is an absolute gentleman and one of the most successful trainers in the world," said Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt in a statement late on Thursday. "Nevertheless, his work with the team has not been as efficient and successful as we had hoped." The 66-year-old Trapattoni is the ninth Bundesliga manager to be fired this season. Former Hansa Rostock coach Veh was named as Trapattoni's successor.
