David Beckham said he is almost certain he will extend his contract with Real Madrid and intends to finalize his a deal with the Spanish team before the summer. Beckham's current deal with Real Madrid ends in June 2007, but the England captain made it clear he wants to renew his contract. "There is a 99% chance that I will stay and sign a new contract with Madrid," the 30-year-old midfielder was quoted as saying by sports daily Marca on Tuesday. "We will begin to talk before the summer but there are no doubts, I will remain here," he added. Beckham has been linked to several teams in the Premiership but the former Manchester United player said that he has settled in Spain especially after buying a new house there.
Sven-Goran Eriksson "This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so why would I want to leave?" England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, who previously said he would try to persuade Beckham in returning to the Premiership, has also been rumored to take over the "galacticos", who are currently managed by Juan Ramon Caro. "I have a good relationship with Sven-Goran Eriksson but I don't know what will happen in the summer," said Beckham. "Juan Ramon Lopez Caro is doing well. He has brought unity to the group, which was something we lacked before. He has succeeded at making us play like a team." Eriksson will step down from his England post after the 2006 World Cup finals this summer.
