USA side Los Angeles Galaxy confirmed their interest in signing former England captain David Beckham if he decided not to extend his Real Madrid contract, chairman and coach Alexi Lalas said. "There are thousands of clubs out there that would love to have a player of his caliber Lalas was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "And the Los Angeles Galaxy is certainly one of them," added the former American international. "Signing players of (Beckham's) stature would be a wonderful step in the right direction, not just for the Galaxy but for soccer in America." The 31-year-old winger said earlier this year that he would love to end his career in the United States, where he established a football academy, after two more years in European football. But Beckham may be forced to make the switch earlier than planned after being relegated to the bench by Real coach Fabio Capello. He hinted that he may not extend his stay in the Spanish capital in search for regular football.
