World number two Kim Clijsters is still doubtful for the Australian Open because of a hip injury, BBC Sport reported. Clijsters says she still feels pain when she is serving or running from side to side but hopes she will be fit by Tuesday. "That's the movement where it pinches a bit so I'm going to try to hold that off as long as possible," she said on Sunday. "I'll have a practice match and see how it feels. If it flares up again, it'll be disappointing. Hopefully it won't." Clijsters picked up the injury last Wednesday and was forced to withdraw from the Sydney International last week. The 22-year-old Belgian is scheduled to face Korea's Yoon-Jeong Cho in her first-round match in Melbourne on Tuesday. Scans have shown that Clijsters' injury is not a tear but she the Belgian star believes she still needs to stop the pain. "Normally I'm not very big on taking anti-inflammatories or painkillers, but that's definitely something I'll do this tournament," said Clijsters. "I'm definitely going to go for all my shots. If I'm not able to play like that, there's no use for me being out on the court. "It all depends how it reacts. If I start to work on the intensity of my game it could definitely get worse…Hopefully it won't happen, but I'll just have to wait and see." Clijsters, who suffered an injury-hit 2004 season after she reached the Australian Open final in January 2004, has already announced that she will retire in 2007.
