World number one Kim Clijsters survived a tough second round match against French rising teenager Tatiana Golovin on Wednesday, as the Belgian fought back from a set behind to advance to the quarterfinals of the Antwerp Open. The 22-year-old Belgian, who won the title in 2004, was playing her first match since she retired with an injury from the semifinals of the Australian Open last month. Clijsters dropped the first set 4-6 and committed 50 unforced errors before she wrapped up her 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 victory amidst a huge crowd of Belgian fans. "The crowd was probably the difference in the end I think," Clijsters was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "The crowd are a big help and support during the tie-break and in close games, and this was a very close game.” Golovin, who reached the semifinals at the Paris Open last week where she ousted world number seven Nadia Petrova and took Amelie Mauresmo to three sets, admitted her disappointment but was proud of her performance in Antwerp. “Of course I am disappointed, I was so close. But it is better to lose after such a match than after twice 6-0,” the French world number 24 was quoted as saying by the tournament's official website. “I'll certainly retain good memories about this tournament,” assured Golovin. Clijsters' quarterfinal opponent is another teenager, Dinara Safina of Russia, who beat Katarina Srebotnik 6-2, 6-4. Others who advanced to the last-eight include fourth-seeded Petrova, sixth-seeded Patty Schnyder and Eleni Daniilidou.
