Spanish side Espanyol have signed Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani from Birmingham on a two and a half-year deal for 1.5 million euro ($1.81 million), the Primera Liga side official website reported. Pandiani said he is eager to make his debut with the Catalan club as soon as possible after completing his move on Friday. "I'm ready to play now and I can't wait to play although I don't know when I'll get the chance," Pandiani told a press conference. The 29-year-old joined Birmingham from Spain's Deportivo Coruna during the off-season after enjoying a successful loan spell at the club. But the former Real Mallorca striker did not live up to expectations as he just bagged six goals in 35 matches for the Premiership side. "I was fine in England, but returning to Spain was an interesting option. I weighed it up with my family and here I am," he said. Espanyol are in 14th place of the Primera Liga table and are set to face Cadiz in the King's Cup quarter-finals.
