Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o announced on Saturday that he will play in the African Cup of Nations taking place in Cairo in January. "I am proud to wear the colors of my country whenever I am called upon, and in all the playing grounds around the world," Eto'o was quoted as saying by SkySports.com. The decision means Eto'o may miss up to five matches in the Spanish League and both ties of the round of 16 in the Cup during the tournament that starts on January 20th and last for 20 days. But Eto'o, topping La Liga scorers so far with 17 goals, said he never imagined ditching the big event. "It has never been a question for me not to go to Egypt. The Cameroon players are carrying the hopes of a nation. It is our duty to make them happy," he added. The 24-year-old forward said last week that he was still considering whether to participate in the African Cup or to stay in Barcelona for the Spanish local action. Cameroon play in Group B alongside Democratic Congo and World Cup sides Angola and Togo.
