Egypt have moved up 11 places in FIFA's monthly ranking for national teams to lie 50th ahead of Africa's World Cup qualifying playoff draw. After beating Guinea 4-2 to complete a perfect winning record in their qualifying group, the Pharaohs were the best African movers inside FIFA's top 50. However, Egypt still find themselves surpassed by eight African nations, including the top five seeds of the playoffs; Ivory Coast (19), Ghana (24), Algeria (28), Nigeria (36) and Tunisia (46). Tunisia only qualified for the playoffs after a ruling from FIFA put them in for Cape Verde, who were eliminated for fielding an eligible player in this month's victory over the North Africans. The final qualifiers of Africa will see the 10 group winners from the second round drawn into five home-and-away ties as winners qualify for Brazil. Egypt are currently among the five bottom seeded teams including Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Senegal and Ethiopia.
