Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal of the season as Basel coasted to a 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Aarau in the Swiss league first match. The Egypt forward slotted home a volley after 24 minutes following a fine cross by Valentin Stocker. The goal paved way for Raul Bobadilla and Marco Streller to add two more as Juan Pablo Garat scored a late consolation for Aarau. Salah was substituted by new signing Stephan Andrist four minutes from time while compatriot Mohamed Elneny played the full match.
