Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Al-Nenni featured as second-half substitutes in Basel's 1-0 victory over Thun to help the Swiss champions move top of the league table temporarily. Basel top-scorer Marco Streller scored the sole goal of the game with a superb 81st minute volley, two minutes before the introduction of Al-Nenni instead of veteran Alexander Frei. Salah had been already on the pitch after coming on in the 64th minute as he was unlucky to see a strike denied by the woodwork late in the game. Murat Yakin's side, who made it to the Europa League's quarters few days ago, extended their winning streak to three league games as they top the table on 49 points, one ahead of Grasshoppers who have a game in hand.
