Mohamed Salah scored his third league goal for Basel in a 3-0 win over Sion, whereas Mohamed Al-Nenni came off the bench to make his first appearance. Even though he started with his Egypt teammate on the bench, Salah was introduced at half time to score the second goal after just seven minutes. Basel, who were given the lead by Marco Streller, then wrapped up the win via a Valentin Stocker strike. With 19 minutes remaining, Egypt midfielder Al-Nenni came on to replace Ivorian Serey Die for his Basel bow. Defending champions Basel remain second on 36 points, four behind leaders Grasshoppers.
