A group of angry supporters attacked a press conference held by sports minister El-Amry Farouk on Thursday as reports point to Zamalek ultras. Minister Farouk had to call of the conference, in which he was supposed to reveal future plans about sports in Egypt, after dozens of protesters stormed the hall at Cairo Stadium. The minister had to run for his life from the backdoor as the protesters are believed to be members of Zamalek's Ultras White Knights. However, Zamalek issued a statement denying the club's responsibility for what happened. The incident comes one day after Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas had controversially criticized Farouk, accusing him of favoring Ahli and threatening not to allow his plan of hiring temporary boards for both clubs until the next elections in September. Irresponsible “These guys are nothing but criminals. What I've seen today is unprecedented," FilGoal.com reporter and renowned journalist Walid Al-Husseini, who saw the whole incident, said. “They stormed the room and tried to physically attack anyone in front of them, but the minister managed to get out with his crew. “I think all of this is a result of the irresponsible comments of Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas about the minister. Action must be taken against him." It has also been confirmed that minister Farouk has begun the procedures of suing Abbas for verbally insulting him during his conference on Wednesday.
