Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas launched a scathing attack against the Ministry of Sports, accusing minister El-Amry Farouk of favoring arch-rivals Ahli. According to the regulations of Farouk's ministry, Abbas should relinquish his position for a temporary board to take over until the club's presidential elections in September. However, the Zamalek chief insists on staying beyond the June 1 deadline as he accused the former Ahli-board member of trying to destroy his club. “If the minister is man enough to appoint a temporary committee to take charge of Zamalek, I will prevent it from entering the club," Abbas told a press conference. “I will not speak in a diplomatic manner here. This minister is unfair to Zamalek. “I always rejected the suggestion of a conspiracy, but now I believe they all want to bring Zamalek down. “El-Amry Farouk is favoring his old club at the expense of Zamalek."
