Zamalek could only draw 1-1 with Ethiopia's Saint George in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The five-time champions were saved by a late goal from Abdoulaye Cisse after Ethiopia international Oumed Oukri gave the visitors a shock lead. Oukri's terrific goal was the first for Zamalek to concede in this season's Champions League. The Whites now face a tricky task when they visit the Ethiopian champions in Addis Ababa early in May. Subs save Zamalek A poor first half from the hosts only saw an Ahmed Eid left-footed curler go inches above the bar after 12 minutes. The poor Zamalek were then saved by a quality block from Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed to deny Shimelis Bekele. Shortly after the break, Omar Gaber saw a volley go wide as Zamalek began to pile up the pressure. The half-time introduction of Hazem Emam clearly rejuvenated the home side and the pacey winger was thwarted by Uganda goalkeeper Robert Odongkara. But while Zamalek were in a hurry to score, defender Salah Soliman made a dismal back-pass that was pounced on by striker Oukri, who superbly smashed past Abdul-Wahed from range. Mohamed Ibrahim and Cisse then came off the bench to save Zamalek from an embarrassing home defeat as the Burkina Faso striker bundled in his strike partner's cross from close range. Cisse almost grabbed the winner but his header bounced off the bar agonizingly.
