Mohamed Abou-Treika underlined his ever-growing reputation as Zamalek tormentor by scoring the winner in Ahli's 1-0 CAF Champions League victory. The legendary number 22 hit the only goal of an insipid game near the end to become the Cairo derby's all-time leading goalscorer with 11. The win cemented Ahli's position on top of Group B and left Zamalek languishing at the bottom with no points. It is Zamalek's second-ever home defeat in an African competition, with the first one also inflicted by their arch-rivals Ahli seven years ago. Dull game settled by Treika In an empty Military Academy Stadium, the match hardly hit the heights of the ever-exciting Cairo derby as both sides seemed to be happy with a draw until Abou-Treika settled it. Ahli winger Walid Soliman saw an attempt go wide before Abou-Treika had another good chance blocked by a defender following a goal-mouth scramble. Zamalek replied as full-back Ahmed Samir squandered a golden chance as he broke clear of defense but dithered on the ball before being tackled by Soliman, much to Shehata's frustration. The Whites could have atoned for their wasted chance but striker Abdoulaye Cisse was guilty of another glaring miss when he went one-on-one with the keeper, only to blast high from close range. In the second half, Zamalek youngster Mohamed Ibrahim - a surprise inclusion in Hassan Shehata's line-up - seemed to be gradually gaining confidence as he saw a powerful strike go just inches wide after superbly eluding a challenger. Ibrahim came close again when he went through on goal but Sherif Ekrami thwarted his low effort, in what seemed to be a good spell of dominance for the Whites. However, Ahli had the best chance of the game when Abou-Treika saw his freekick amazingly blocked by Samir on the goal-line, with goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed well-beaten. Treika then showed his ruthlessness in the next chance when he headed home a fine cross by substitute Abdullah Al-Saied to win the game for Ahli 11 minutes from time.
