Ahli are close to signing Cameroonian midfielder Tamen Medrano on a free transfer, football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz revealed.
Medrano, 26, has been out of contract since being released by Nigeria's Sunshine Stars, for which he scored a wonder goal against Ahli in last season's Champions League semi-final.
“Medrano is well-known to Ahli and we are interested in his services," Ahli's Abdul-Hafiz told FilGoal.com.
“His contract with Sunshine Stars expired in December and I think he could immediately join us, but first we opted to contact FIFA in order to make sure we can sign him now on a free."
Medrano plays as a defensive midfielder; a position that Ahli have been looking to reinforce after losing captain Hossam Ghaly to a long-term knee injury.
