Ahli striker Emad Meteb has been promised a return to Egypt's fold if he managed to maintain his goalscoring form. The 30-year-old has been left out of Egypt's provisional squad for the World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, only to inspire Ahli's Champions League win at Kenya's Tusker with a brace. As it was the first time for him to score in eight months, Meteb has been encouraged by the Egypt management to keep the goals flowing. “Meteb has been constantly trying to regain his goalscoring form, and now it seems he can score again just after we announced our squad!" Egypt assistant coach Diaa Al-Sayed said. “As a managing staff, we would be very glad to see Meteb back in form. We've actually been waiting for this to happen. “When he is in top form, he is indispensable for Egypt." Meteb was on target in Egypt's last competitive fixture, scoring the leveller in a 1-1 draw with Central African Republic. Egypt take on Zimbabwe on March 26, with Ahmed Mekki, Geddo, Ahmed Gaafar and Ahmed Temsah named as center-forwards.
