Hany Ramzy has ended his spell as Lierse head coach after guiding the Belgian side to survival in the top flight, the club announced. Ramzy took charge of the Egyptian-owned Lierse midway through the season to become the first Egyptian ever to manage top-flight club in Europe. He was handed the task of keeping Lierse in the top flight; an objective that was achieved with a crucial 1-0 win over Kortijk this month. Now Ramzy will be back as Lierse technical director as former Belgium defender Eric van Meir will replace him on the Lierse bench. "Now Lierse are sure of maintaining their place in the first division, my mission as a coach is accomplished," Ramzy told Belgian media. "In the coming weeks I will focus more on my job as technical director, which was my initial agreement with president Maged Sami. "With eighteen players out of contract at Lierse SK alone, there is plenty of work in the near future on the shelf . We must now start building our team for next season." Ramzy's work is also related to the other two clubs owned by Egyptian businessman Sami; Turnhout and Wadi Degla.
