Bani Yas forward Mohamed Zidan has categorically denied feigning injury as an attempt to skip his side's 2-1 win over Ittihad Kalbaa last weekend. Manager Jozef Chovanec had revealed after the game that Zidan, who has been out for over a month with a knee problem, was forced to pull out of the league win after aggravating the injury. Even so, the Egypt international was accused of intentionally skipping the match with reports suggesting that Bani Yas' officials are set to take action against him. "I requested not playing against Ittihad after feeling some pain in the knee during the last training session," Zidan told Emirate media. "The fact that scans didn't reveal any injury doesn't mean that I'm not suffering from pain, that's quite normal in football. "I just can't find the reason why should I be faking injury, I'm 31 now; for sure I'm keen to play as much games as possible as I don't have much time remaining in my career. "I didn't receive any notification that I've been sanctioned by the club as it had been rumored of late." The former Mainz hitman is tied to the Emirate club, whom he joined on a free transfer in the summer, till the end of 2014.
