In order to challenge President Morsi's unilateral decree that has given him unprecedented powers, three noted politicians, Mohamed ElBaradei, Amr Moussa and Hamdeen Sabbahi, have announced the formation of a national salvation front comprising all the political and revolutionary factions opposed to Morsi's decree, in order to lead the present confrontation, politically and popularly. The three politicians and most of the civil revolutionary powers have announced their opposition to Morsi's decree that gives him extensive new powers and grants his decisions immunity from any opposition from any party, including the judiciary. Taking their protest to Tahrir Square and other famous squares in different Egyptian cities, Morsi's opponents want to force the President to withdraw his decree. After a few days of the civilian revolutionary groups and the Islamists, especially followers of the Muslim Brotherhood, showing off their power, some people are now calling for national dialogue to bridge the crack that has emerged between yesterday's allies who backed Morsi in the presidential race against Ahmed Shafiq, Mubarak's last prime minister. However, the different parties have rejected the calls for dialogue, until the President cancels this controversial decree. In their opinion, President Morsi has gone back on all promises to them to be President for all Egyptians by showing bias for his Muslim Brotherhood (MB) organisation with this decree that is meant to protect the Constituent Assembly and the Shura Council, dominated by the MB, from their possible dissolution by a Constitutional Court ruling. They also blame the President for the Constituent Assembly crisis, although he has promised to adjust the balance between the different powers by including representatives from all factions of society among its members. What hurts these national figures most is that they responded to Morsi's call for a number of bilateral meetings to express their opinion about the different political crises facing the country, including the writing of the new Constitution. After listening to their innumerable suggestions for resolving the crisis, the President has chosen a totally different approach, giving the CA full immunity from dissolution, prolonging its deadline for drafting the Constitution by two months, even though many of the civil powers have already walked out of the Assembly!
