Egypt's General Authority for Roads and Bridges (GARBLT) has dismissed reports claiming damage to the Kalabsha Axis Bridge over the Nile following a collision with a river barge, confirming that the bridge remains fully intact and structurally sound. In an official statement on Saturday, the Authority refuted social media and online reports alleging a partial collapse of the Fares Bridge. It clarified that the incident in question involved the Kalabsha Axis Bridge, not the Fares Bridge, and stressed that no part of the structure sustained any damage. A technical inspection team, formed under the directives of Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir, visited the site and verified that the bridge was 100 per cent safe from an engineering standpoint. The Authority urged media outlets to exercise accuracy and verify information before publication, emphasising that official updates should only be sourced from the ministry of transport and the GARBLT.
