CAIRO - Minister of Communications and Information Technology Maged Osman, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Amr Ezzat Salama have recently signed a co-operation protocol between Telecom Egypt's Leadership Development Centre and the Technical Faculties Development Project. According to this agreement, training sessions on leadership and administrative skills are to be provided to technology faculties' professors, leaders and administrators affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education. The educational level of these calibres shall always keep pace with the rapidly increasing market requirements of higher technology-related skills in different sectors, according to officials. The period of this signed protocol is five years and is to be renewed according to both sides willingness. As a first stage, the Leadership Development Centre at Telecom Egypt has already provided eight training sessions for 120 trainees representing the elite of scientific calibres at universities and institutions affiliated to the ministry. The total training hours reached 180 along 30 days. These training courses have achieved a distinguished success praised by the ministry's trainees themselves. Upon this success, the Technical Faculties Development Project attached to the Ministry of Higher Education proposed to provide more sessions and prepare for a co-operation protocol so that the Leadership Development Centre at Telecom Egypt could pursue the training process. Viewing that Telecom Egypt has various training sites nationwide, trainers at the Leadership Development Centre, affiliated to Telecom Egypt, will be providing training sessions for the trainees of the Ministry of Higher Education at the nearest locations to their working places in all governorates in order to reduce burden on trainees. In a previous stage, the Ministry of Higher Education proposed a tender for the provision of training sessions regarding leadership and management skills for faculties' professors, and leaders. The Leadership Development Centre was ranked the first on this tender. This is due to the distinguished level of training courses and qualified trainers working at the centre and its ability to meet the training requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education.
