AUTHORITIES at Cairo International Airport yesterday stopped 55 Egyptian workers from travelling to Libya as they failed to meet new controversial entry requirements set by the North African country earlier in the week. The travellers were prevented from flying to Libya because they did notmeet the requirements, which stipulate that each Egyptian should obtain a work contract approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Labour and the Libyan Follow-up Office in Cairo, airport officials said. Egyptian businessmen, tourists should obtain an entry visa in advance and should obtain an official invitation from the Libyan authorities concerned, as well as the approval of the Libyan Immigration Authority, they added. Libya has begun enforcing these rules on all Egyptians without an official announcement or prior notification, they said.
