CAIRO - A group of Cairo University professors have filed a lawsuit demanding that a an honorary doctorate degree in philosophy and economics to the wife of former President Hosni Mubarak be withdrawn from her. The group, led by Professor Salah Eddin Mohamed Sadek, has demanded that the degree should be withdrawn and considered void and null now that Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak did not fulfill any of the Ph.D requirements and presented no dissertation to obtain it in 2010. "Mrs. Mubarak was awarded the doctorate degree as a complimentary gesture by the Cairo University Provost, Hossam Kamel and not for any scientific achievement by her," Professor Sadek said. He demand that the degree should be offered to post-graduate students, who deserve it for writing a satisfactory PhD dissertation, and successfully passing the the final oral examination conducted by each member of their advisory panel.
