CAIRO - The mid-year vacation for Egyptian schools and universities will be extended for one more week due to the current circumstances, the acting Minister of Education said Wednesday. Hani Hillal, who is also the minister of higher education and scientific research, said that the Government decided that all classes would begin on February 26 instead of February 19 as announced last week. "Due to the current conditions, the Ministry sees it fit that the mid-term holidays, which was scheduled to end on Friday, February 19, be extended for one more week," Hillal said. He said the new school term will now begin on February 26, a week later than planned. The new date allows the schools and universities, whether private or Government " run, to take better steps for receiving their students, Hillal said.
