CAIRO - Veiled from head to toe, or dressed in trendy outfits, many Egyptian women are out in force in Al Tahrir Square, the scene of anti-regime protests that have been on for 16 days. The square looks cleaner than before, thanks to a vigorous campaign launched by university students, who launched the “Cleaning of Al Tahrir With Our Own Hands Campaign”. The campaign involves a number of activities including sweeping the square, collecting and removing litter and trash. The drive aims to maintain a cleaner Al Tahrir Square, the participants said. They added that they had worked hard to improve the look and feel of the square, which has accommodated thousands of protesters since January 25.
