CAIRO - Egypt's Higher Administrative Court Monday accepted former Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas' appeal against the previous ruling about his dismissal, the official Middle East News Agency reported. Abbas' board was dismissed by the governmental National Sports Council in September, following a successful protest by Mortada Mansour about the legitimacy of the 2009 elections. Mansour, who came second behind the incumbent Zamalek Chairman Mamdouh Abbas in the elections last summer, declared that his rival's victory was unlawful. Mansour eventually won his appeal, basing it on the claim that a large number of votes had come from unregistered members. Abbas, who was replaced by Galal Ibrahim, made another appeal in an attempt to regain presidency of the Cairo club. Mansour decided to face Abbas directly in the court case. Until Zamalek's next elections in 2011, Ibrahim is expected to remain the Chairman of the club.
