GIZA - Giza prosecutors have pressed premeditated murder charges against a retired army lieutenant colonel, who is allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting that killed a paints trader and his son-in-law on Thursday night, security sources said Saturday. Police troops had cordoned off the area of Omraniya, where the slayings occurred, blocking the suspect from fleeing after the incident, the sources said. The culprit, who was hiding in a relative's house in Omraniya, confessed to opening fire with a semi-automatic rifle on the victims while they were sitting at a cafe house. The retired Lt. Col. called the shooting a revenge for the alleged breach-of-trust by the trader for refusing to give him back a sum of money he had borrowed six months ago.
