CAIRO, Sept 30, 2018 (MENA) – Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Dr Hala Zayed said President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi campaign to detect and treat Hepatitis C and chronic diseases will begin on Monday. The Minister said the campaign is the first and largest one in the history of mankind. It aims at eliminating Hepatitis C by 2020 and reducing fatalities from chronic diseases, she said addressing the press conference. The presidential campaign divides Egypt's governorates to three seven-month phases from October to April 2019, she said. The first phase includes nine governorates, namely Sinai, Matrouh, Port Said, Alexandria, Beheira, Damietta, Qaliyubia, Fayyoum and Assiut, she said. The second phase covers 11 governorates starting from December 2018 until February 2019, namely North Sinai, Red Sea, Cairo, Ismailia, Suez, Kafr el Sheikh, Menoufia, Beni Sueif, Sohag, Aswan and Luxor. The third and final phase will begin in March-April 2019 to cover seven governorates, namely New Valley, Giza, Gharbiya, Daqahliya, Sharqiya, Menya and Qena. In the first phase a total of 1,412 sites will be operated by around 5,484 specialists, including physicians, pharmacists, dentists, nurses and data entry experts. She added that 408 physicians, 408 nurses and 204 data entry specialists have trained more than 5,000 people to be working in the campaign. The campaign will be accompanied by an awareness campaign of chronic diseases, she said
