CAIRO, Sept 17, 2018 (MENA) - Minister of Transport Hisham Arafat witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA) and Progress Rail Locomotive Inc. (PRL) whereby Egypt will be supplied with 50 locomotives. The MOU was inked by ERA Chairman Ashraf Raslan and PRL board chairman and deputy board chairman of Caterpillar Inc. In a statement on Monday, Arafat said that the MoU stipulated that PRL will be responsible for maintaining 141 EMD train parts and 91 locomotives. The ERA will also purchase 50 new locomotives under the memorandum. This comes as part of a plan of the Ministry of Transport to upgrade the locomotives of the ERA to present distinguished service to the passengers and benefit from these locomotives in transporting goods, the minister added.
