PARIS, September 1, 2018 (MENA) - A funeral was held on Saturday for late Egyptian economist Samir Amin in the presence of a delegation from the Egyptian embassy. A host of public and political figures from France and other countries were also present. He was buried in a cemetery in Paris suburbs. During the service, Egypt's charge d'affaires Hisham el-Maqwad conveyed condolences of the Egyptian government and people to the family of the late economist. Amin, whose father is Egyptian and his mother is French, died on Sunday in Paris at the age of 87. He was born in Port Said city in 1931. Amin was noted for his introduction of the term Eurocentrism in 1988. He wrote many books including The Liberal Virus 2003, A life Looking Forward 2006, Accumulation on a World Scale 1970 and Capitalism in the Age of Globalisation 1997.
