CAIRO, August 15, 2018 (News Agencies) - Al Ahly Coach Patrice Carteron has decided to register Nasser Maher and Akram Tawfik in the club's CAF Champions League squad. The club had to register two new names to complete their 30-squad man ahead of their clash against Espérance Sportive de Tunis on Friday. The duo joins Momen Zakaria and Salif Coulibaly, who were added to the squad last month, as Al Ahly will aim to win their first CAF Champions League title since 2013. On the other hand, Ahmed Alaa, Mahmoud El-Gazzar, Ahmed El-Sheikh, Mohamed Sherif, and Ahmed Yasser Rayan were left out of the squad. Maher spent the last two seasons on loan at Petrojet and Smouha, before returning to his parent club this season, starting Al Ahly's two opening games against Ismaily and Al Masry. He has also been linked with a move to a number of European clubs, however, Al Ahly director of football confirmed that the club have not received any formal offers for the playmaker. Meanwhile, Akram Tawfik is yet to make an appearance for Al Ahly this season, and has played only 11 games for the Reds since joining them in 2016. Al Ahly are currently second in group A with seven points, three behind Tunisian side Espérance, while Township Rollers, and Kampala City sit third and fourth with three points. The Red Devils will face Espérance Sportive de Tunis on Friday, August 17 away from home, with a win would ensure the Reds' place in the quarter-finals.
