CAIRO, July 10, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's annual consumer price inflation fell to 13.8 per cent in June 2018, compared to 30.9 per cent in the same month of 2017 that rose due to the flotation of the Egyptian currency, a state-statistics body said Tuesday. Inflation increased 2.9 per cent in June, compared to the previous month, to record 282.7 points, the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said. CAPMAS attributed the increase of inflation on a monthly basis to the rise of some commodities' prices as vegetables by 4 per cent, cereals and bread by 2 per cent, transport by 27.8 per cent, and the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 8.1 per cent. The annual consumer price inflation slipped to 11.4 per cent in May 2018, from 13.1 per cent in the previous month; additionally, the annual core inflation rate declined to 11.1 per cent in May 2018 from 11.6 per cent in April 2018.
