CAIRO, July 08, 2018 - Al-Hussein University Hospital re-opened its doors Sunday to receive patients and work was resumed in the accident and emergency department, after a fire which broke out on Saturday was put out. All staff leave was cancelled and work was back to normal in all the hospital departments except for those affected by the fire. The President of Al-Azhar University, Dr Mohamed el-Mehresawi, inspected the Fatma el-Zahraa Hospital Sunday to which patients from the blaze-hit Al-Hussain Hospital had been transferred. The university president said that all the hospitals to which the patients had been transferred had been given instructions to offer the best services to the injured, in keeping with the directives of the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Dr Ahmed el-Tayeb. Dr el-Mehresawi said that a specialised committee from the Faculty of Engineering, Al-Azhar University, had been set up to find out the cause of the fire. He added that strict measures would be taken if anyone were found to have caused the fire through negligence or corruption. He confirmed that all the hospitals affiliated to Al-Azhar University had the full support of the Sheikhof Al-Azhar, Dr el-Tayeb.
