CAIRO, July 7, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head on Saturday night to Beijing on a two-day visit to China, during which he will participate in the eighth Ministerial Meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum that will be held on July 10, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. During his visit, the foreign minister will hold key meetings with China's Vice President Wang Qishan and another with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, the spokesman noted. Following the talks, Shoukry is set to take part in the Ministerial Meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum which will tackle activating the Arab-Chinese relations in various domains, mainly the economic one. The forum will also take up several regional issues of mutual concern, according to Abu Zeid. The Egyptian-Chinese relations gain special importance in light of the historical ties binding both countries, Abu Zeid said, adding that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1956. During the visit, Shoukry is scheduled to hold meetings with a number of his Arab counterparts who are participating in the forum.
