CAIRO, June 25, 2018 (MENA) - British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson asserted that Egypt ranked fifth among countries hosting British education around the world. In statements on Monday on the sidelines of a visit by a high-level delegation from 11 British universities, the ambassador said that 19,800 students registered in the UK programs, adding that Britain is a key partner to Egypt in education field. Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and UK Minister of Universities and Science signed a memorandum of understanding to bring in more UK universities into Egypt in 2018, he added. As many as 11 UK universities' representatives are in Egypt this week to explore opportunities to create branches not only in Cairo and Giza but extending to other governorates as well, the ambassador further said. Earlier, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding to boost scientific cooperation between the Higher Education Ministry and the British University of Liverpool. The deal was signed by Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and President of Universities UK and vice-chancellor of the University of Liverpool Professor Dame Janet Beer.
