CAIRO, March 7- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met on Wednesday the British Ambassador to Egypt, John Casson, to discuss the means of boosting co-operation between Egypt-UK universities, making the best use of joint expertise. The two sides discussed the establishment of campuses for the British world class universities. Minister Abdel Ghaffar, meanwhile, stressed Egypt's keenness on giving an extra boost to cultural and scientific ties with Britain besides fostering partnerships between the scientific associations of both countries. The meeting also dealt with the scholarships offered within the framework of the partnership programme between the two governments with the key aim of supporting scientific research sectors. Under this partnership comes The Newton-Mosharafa PhD scholarship programme which aims to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare. Ambassador Casson, for his part, stressed Britain's keenness on cementing co-operation with Egypt to continue implementing the joint scientific ventures.
