CAIRO, June 25, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed Egypt's firm stance on the unity of Iraq and its sovereignty over its national soil, congratulating the Iraqi leadership on the victories achieved against the terrorist Daesh group. This came during a meeting he had with visiting Iraqi Vice President Ayad Allawi and his accompanying delegation to discuss boosting ties and co-operation between Egypt and Iraq. At the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister welcomed his Iraqi guests, praising the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries, and extending his sincere congratulations to the Iraqi people on the conclusion of the country's parliamentary elections which he termed as an additional step towards achieving democracy and stability in Iraq. Madbouli also affirmed Egypt's readiness to provide the necessary support to efforts of the Iraqi government to rebuild the country. He stressed the importance of starting practical steps to maximise co-operation between the two countries and contribute more to infrastructure projects in Iraq, pointing out that this visit should lead to a road map for further bilateral economic cooperation. Talks between the two sides covered boosting co-operation in economic, security and investment domains and the participation of Egyptian companies in petrochemical, gas and oil projects in Iraq.
